What A Day For A Daydream

Sundays are such happy and sad days for me. Happy because Matt is usually at home, and we get to hang out but sad because Monday is the next day and it means back to the grindstone...

Matt woke up this morning and he actually remembered a dream he had. It is very rare when that happens. I on the other hand dream quite often, but mostly the only ones I remember are the very strange or scary. That's thanks to the Cox side of my family, night terrors tend to run in the family. You ever dream you are falling and you wake up in a panic? I hate those...

But daydream, that is a totally different story. I daydream a lot. I just asked Matt if he daydreams, he said he used to but is too busy now. So I ask, "What did you use to daydream about?" Reply: "Star Wars" If I had to picture those dreams I can imagine Matt as Han Solo, and I bet I have cinnamon bun hair... Dutch would totally be Chewbacca. I think Law School would be the Dark Side...

Back in Boone

This week I was lucky to have my family up from Georgia. Amy and I got the chance to get back up to Boone when our family rented an awesome cabin for a whole week! Too bad that Amy and I only got to stay one day... but we made the most of it!

Ava gives Boone 2 big thumbs up!

First night, Outback in Blowing Rock, Ava is a good shot with a straw!

Tubing at Hawksnest! This was the first time Ava had seen snow. It was so much fun!

Ava and her "post-tubing" hair and a giant cookie!

Top Complete!

Stephanie's quilt top is complete! I am so happy with how it turned out. I finished it Thursday night but have been unsuccessful at getting a good picture of the quilt top. Here is the best I've got so far...

I am really proud of how precise I was with this quilt. Every corner hits perfectly! Yay! Now all that's left is to baste, quilt, and bind! Whew!

Valentine's Day

Matt and I had a great Valentine's Day, despite the fact that the Macaroni Grille in Cary lost our reservations (I don't know if we will ever eat there again). Matt had flowers delivered to the house, aren't they beautiful?!

So then after driving to Cary to eat and finding out we had no reservations, we ended up at a great little sushi place in Apex. It was better than the stupid Macaroni Grille anyways...

So after dinner we decided to grab some dessert from the Harris Teeter next door. Matt and I couldn't decide between Red Velvet or Carrot Cake so we ended up with a little gem of a cake that had 4 slices of different cake (Chocolate on Chocolate, Carrot, Red Velvet, and Yellow Cake with Chocolate Icing). Matt was very excited about the cake and couldn't wait till we got home.

And this is what it looked like when we got home...

Happy Valentine's Day!

"Sew" Close...

When laid Stephanie's quilt out all I could say was "Wow". In a kind of of disbelief voice... This is the quilt strips laid out on a queen size bed.

Tonight I am sewing these strips together to complete the top so that Stephanie and I can pick out the backing fabric this weekend. Sadly, I have a cold and have taken some cold medication. If you know me you know what that means, not good. Any type of meds make me loopy. So sewing tonight might have to be stopped before it gets truly started. I am already having to rip out some stitches, if that happens again I am just going to put it down till tomorrow.

Voila!

Matt cooked dinner tonight. Yes cooked, like with real food. No microwave or can involved! I am so proud of the Hubs!!!
Thanks Voila!

Crock Pot Love

Thanks to a delicious pot roast recipe from my grandma, Matt and I had a wonderful dinner. So great in fact, I have vowed to use my crock pot more often.

I think Matt agrees...

Alterations

Did a little sewing tonight, not Stephanie's quilt. I am planning on attacking that thing soon. I am hoping to have the top complete by this weekend...

Tonight I was working on some alterations for a friend at work. I never have to take up pants, I always have to look for large cuffs to let out!

I have been playing around with the macro feature on my camera and I love it...

Wordless Wednesday 1

I think I am going to start a new feature on the blog... Wordless Wednesday.

More Sewing

I have all the shirts I needed to complete Stephanie's quilt now. So I cut them out tonight along with the random High School shirts for the throw pillow. Stephanie wanted them included, but I love things to have a "theme" so her quilt only has UNC shirts on it.

Here is a picture of the final layout. Sewing will being soon!

Here is a look at the pillow front that I pieced together tonight. We still have to get fabric for the back of the quilt and this pillow.

Big Weekend

This has been a very busy weekend for us! Matt had his Campbell Law School Symposium Friday, we had Barrister's Ball on Saturday, and today is a Super Bowl party. Whew!

I apologize for not blogging more lately, I have been busying helping Matt with this symposium stuff (don't even ask me how many papers I hole-punched) and then I got sick Thursday :(

But luckily I bounced back and had a grand time on Friday and Saturday night. Friday night Matt and I went out to celebrate the symposium. To all the LR staff, it went off perfectly! Here is Matt's opening speech:

Did you hear my nervous laughter? I had all these people turn to look at me and I am looking like a nerd taking a video! I was like, "Oh man!" But it was seriously sweet that Matt mentioned me... awww!

Then that night we ate at a wonderful restaurant called Fins. It was rated the #2 seafood restaurant in the country by Bon Appetit magazine in Dec. 2008 and the Triangle's best restaurant in 2008. Matt and I stumbled across this little gem just because it was close to the hotel and we just wanted to walk somewhere close :)

Saturday we had another wonderful meal at Sullivan's Steakhouse in downtown Raleigh. We had a nice little private room with about 8 other couples that Matt goes to school with. It was a great time. Then it was onto the Barrister's Ball. Here is a couple of pictures from that, I didn't take too many due to the fact that I wanted to dance!

The King and I

Me, Whit, and Matt.

It is hard to believe that it is only a few more months until graduation for Matt! We can't wait!
Happy Super Bowl Sunday everyone!
