Today is Matt's 27th Birthday! Happy Birthday Babe!

Just think of all the things that have happened since your last birthday! We bought a house, you graduated Law School, you passed the bar, you got a job, you got a new car... whew!

I hope that year 27 is as awesome as 26!

Love you!

Elbow Grease

So I accidentally got spray adhesive on our hardwood floors... whoops. And I have been thinking about the best way to get it off... Goo Be Gone? That could ruin the finish...

So I turned to my most trusted friend...

Anyways, after typing in "removing spray adhesive from hardwood floors" into the search box up came a forum where people were discussing just that...

I read that Goo Be Gone can mess with the finish of the floor... crap, good thing I didn't just go ahead and use it :)

But then I read something that I really loved... Vegetable oil and a bit of elbow grease will take it right up! I couldn't believe it! But guess what folks? IT WORKED! Thank goodness!

Thanks Google!

Anyone else have a great tip to make life easier? I found another one this morning when I had noticed my Swiffer Sweeper stunk at collecting pet hair, it just pushed it away! Spritz with a bit of water and ta da, pet hair sticks to it!

Man, I love intersession :)

May all your Christmas dreams come true!

Christmas Eve

Merry Christmas Eve everyone!

As we speak Matt is enjoying Christmas Eve, watching Star Wars and reading... :)

We have already received some fantastic gifts! Yay Christmas! Thank you to Patti and Mike for the tulip bulbs and the awesome Appalachian Grill Tool, those burgers will taste even better with a big A on them! Thanks to Gmom and Gpa Quinn for all the gardening tools (will come in handy planting those bulbs) and the Lowe's gift card! Could be used towards a grill :)

Thanks to Ellie and Jimmy for the package of goodies that came in the mail the other day, we couldn't wait and opened it :) I LOVE the Joanns gift card! Already know what I am going to use it on and Matt is excited to pick out some new clothes with the Kohl's card :) I also loved the penguin fan pull and monogrammed soap. Ellie you can always find Q's, I have such a hard time finding them!

And did you see this week's fantastic Wordless Wednesday? That was a Christmas/House Warming gift from the McDonald family plus Hollie (you're family Hollie!). Oh how I have wanted that mixer... and now it is mine! Looks good in the kitchen too! :)

I am preparing our roast "beast" for dinner. Matt and I have our own little tradition where on Christmas Eve we watch the cartoon version on the Grinch (the only version in my opinion that is worth watching) and eat roast "beast". So that is in the crockpot smelling yummy...

Hope Santa is good to you!

Monday Madness

What a day! Mom and I left Sanford at 8:30am to go to IKEA to get a table for my kitchen. We decided to stop at Furnitureland South to check their outlet center since it was on the way... What a place! I have NEVER seen so much furniture! Matt and I have to go back there to check out pictures and coffee tables. I did see one table that I liked but it did not have a leaf, and I would really like to have a table with one...

So we continued on...

Now I knew that Charlotte had a Rooms To Go Outlet, so we checked there. Great things, super prices, but no colors I liked...

So on we went...

To IKEA!

Now let me say that I picked up many fantastic things, like 4 picture ledges to go by our TV

Also picked up one of these for the kitchen... Kari & Nathan might recognize this :)

A magnetic knife strip (since the last one didn't survive the move that well), that I plan on turning into something adorable like this! *Which makes me think I can cover the ugly metal board for the kitchen... Plan to try that over break!* I also have colored knives like these, I love TJMaxx...

I quickly unwrapped this little goodie and put it beside my lovely chair...

What a great place for my magazines!

Plus a great cutting board, and a few little Christmas gifts...

I bet you are thinking, "Didn't you go for a kitchen table?"

Why yes, yes I did... in fact, I even bought the table and chairs... but they would not fit in the vehicle we took (even though I really thought it would). And even after lots of attempts to get it back to Sanford somehow (thanks Jeremy, Phillip, and Adam) it just would work. So I had to walk back into IKEA and return them all... thanks Mom for dealing with all that... what a mess.

So I am back to craigslist... I have decided, if I haven't found a table locally by New Year's Eve, then we will just take a truck to Adam and Lindsay's party and go to IKEA the next day :) Problem solved.

App Wins!

Tonight we got together with some friends to watch an Appalachian game. Great times, and an App win! You can't beat that!!!

We also saw a giant mob (seriously, like 40 people) in Santa suits, elf costumes, and even one Christmas tree. They came in and stayed awhile and then one Santa took out a mega phone and said, "Santas on the move" and they left... strange strange things...

Here is a bad camera phone picture for proof...

Friday Friend 23

Friday Friend 23 is one we've waited for...

Our new furniture!
Here's a few facts about it
  • It took forever for us to decide
  • I love that chair :)
  • It really fills up our empty living room
  • We are currently looking for a coffee table and side table
  • We are also looking for art for the walls
  • Both of us can stretch out on it at one time
  • Matt is happy we went with leather, and I like it now too
  • Dutch likes it (I know, its bad to let her on the furniture)
  • We are both glad to be done looking at furniture for awhile
  • We highly recommend Klaussner Furniture

Two Thumbs Way Down...

So Tuesday night I remembered that all new Scrubs was coming on ABC. I knew that is was going to be different... but I didn't expect it to be as terrible as it was...

Let's recap the awfulness shall we?

1. Sacred Heart is gone... It has been replaced with a university, where JD, Turk, Dr. Kelso and Dr. Cox teach classes. It has also been stated that JD has only signed to act in 6 episodes... No JD, No Scrubs in my opinion.

2. New girl version on JD, Lucy. Don't get me wrong, the actress is cute and funny but I really hate how they have just replaced his character like that.

3. Elliot made a 3 second appearance knocked up, the janitor quit, and who knows where Carla is.

4. Didn't the last season of Scrubs kinda wrap the show up nicely? Why didn't they just let it go out on top?

So Bad...

I am sorry I have been away... I was reprimanded by a blog reader today (you're right Sarah, I am slack). So here's a quick recap of the past few days, I think you will understand why there has not been a lot of time to blog...

Thursday Thanksgiving Thug

Who knew that thugs knew how to make giblet gravy? Check out those Reynold's grillz...

Friday Friend- The Always Helpful Mike Griffin

Way to carve that Turkey Mike, I can tell that Lene is impressed.

Friday also provided a full day of painting for Matt and I...

Matt's Office. Painting done, so close to complete!

Saturday was a great day, we were able to go to breakfast and the flea market with Stephanie and Chris. :) I also got another coat of paint on my $20 bed frame, it is going to be awesome when it is complete!

On Sunday I took Cindy's Quilt from this...

To Finished!

First quilt completed in my new studio ;) Check out the tacks, love those little x's.

Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

I have so much to be thankful for...

I am thankful for a wonderful husband to share my life with, for my sweet little doggie that makes my heart swell every time she howls when I come home, for a wonderful family that I love dearly, for fantastic friends that keep my spirit up and make me laugh. I am thankful for my 1st home, for technology, for my blogfans :) and for chocolate. I am thankful for naps and bad reality TV that makes me laugh. I am thankful for snow days, workdays, intersession, and summer vacation :) I am thankful that I have a job, food to eat, rights and freedom. I am thankful for knee socks, that this paint matches and now we don't have to paint the whole bottom level of our house (our Thanksgiving miracle).

When you think of all we have, you just have to be grateful. Today should be a day that we truly thank each person in our lives for being there. May each and every one have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day.
