Bar
Today Matt takes part one of the NC State Bar Exam. I am so impressed by his dedication to law school and all the hours he has put in. Don't worry Matt, you'll do great!
I wonder what life will be like after Wednesday afternoon? It has been a long long time since life without law school or studying for something... should be interesting... :)
Good luck to everyone taking the bar this week!!!

Surprise!
In honor of Matt graduation I had a surprise party at the house. Boy was Matt surprised!

This is at about 10am Saturday morning. I had to tell Matt then because I had a tent set up. So then Dad brought over the tables and chairs and we set them up while Mom was picking up the food. We started at 5pm and last well into the night.
I had the most awesome cake ever made for Matt...

Here are some pictures of all the fun!

It was a great time... serial.

(That picture was for you Sarah!)

Matthew D. Quinn, J.D.
He did it. Matt is official a graduate! I am so proud I could just burst!
Matt also won a few awards at graduation. The one I am most proud of is the Robert A. Jenkins cash award. This award goes to the student whose work in various competitions or other areas best represent the School of Law to the community, the profession, and the public. He also won the Order of Old Kivett Award for exemplary representation in advocacy competitions while maintaining the highest ethical standards. Way to go Matt!
Here are some pictures from the ceremony...

Then of course we had to take a million pictures with everyone!

Way to go Campbell Law School Class of 2009!

I'm Back
Okay, its been awhile... Matt finished Law School Monday and we have been having fun all week. We celebrated Cinco de Mayo at Trivia on Tuesday night (see awesome pics below), went to the Mall and had dinner on Wednesday night, and tonight I had PTO at school.

Good times.
Well tomorrow is the big day. Matt will graduate from Law School at 10am. I am sure Friday's blog will be filled with graduation goodness. :)

The End Is Near...
Of Law School that is. Matt is busy working on a take home exam *see Wordless Wednesday for picture* and has a paper do sometime next week. After that it is Graduation! :) Wow! I can't believe it is here!
Matt was able to deliver my latest quilt to a friend of ours Jessica that Matt goes to school with. Now that Jessica has her quilt I can post pictures. I am pleased with it. I just love a rail fence pattern for college colors!
Jessica had this idea for a "house divided" quilt. ECU colors on one side, State fabric on the other. With a black binding to match both. I think it turned out well!

Here is an up close of the ECU colors and the State fabric. The purple looks blue in these pictures, but trust me it is ECU purple!

Here it is just before Matt took it to Campbell for me...

Explanation...
I figured that Wordless Wednesday needs a bit of an explanation...
It is a picture of a the Campbell Law Review Masthead and a small plaque giving to Matt. I has been framed and each member of the Law Review signed it and wrote some very nice sentiments. It means a great deal to Matt. I have known Matt a LONG time and I don't think I have ever seen him speechless. He was shocked.
Here are a few of my personal favorite signatures:
"You taught me that being a leader means never having to tuck in one's factory outlet button-down."
"May your brain always be full and your work always appreciated."
"To the best EIC I ever had."
"I appreciate your leadership. You are destined for greatness."
"You made being on Law Review a little less miserable... or did you? Good day sir!"
And my personal favorite: "A good carpenter never blames his tools. Job well done. All the best in the future."
Thank you Law Review Staff from the bottom of my heart for this. I can't tell you how much it means to Matt. He has enjoyed working with each one of you and bragged on you all quite often to me. :) I know that he will look back on his 3 years at Campbell and have fond memories of each of you and I hope that you will have the same of him. Thanks again for everything!

Big Weekend
This has been a very busy weekend for us! Matt had his Campbell Law School Symposium Friday, we had Barrister's Ball on Saturday, and today is a Super Bowl party. Whew!
I apologize for not blogging more lately, I have been busying helping Matt with this symposium stuff (don't even ask me how many papers I hole-punched) and then I got sick Thursday :(
But luckily I bounced back and had a grand time on Friday and Saturday night. Friday night Matt and I went out to celebrate the symposium. To all the LR staff, it went off perfectly! Here is Matt's opening speech:
Did you hear my nervous laughter? I had all these people turn to look at me and I am looking like a nerd taking a video! I was like, "Oh man!" But it was seriously sweet that Matt mentioned me... awww!
Then that night we ate at a wonderful restaurant called Fins. It was rated the #2 seafood restaurant in the country by Bon Appetit magazine in Dec. 2008 and the Triangle's best restaurant in 2008. Matt and I stumbled across this little gem just because it was close to the hotel and we just wanted to walk somewhere close :)
Saturday we had another wonderful meal at Sullivan's Steakhouse in downtown Raleigh. We had a nice little private room with about 8 other couples that Matt goes to school with. It was a great time. Then it was onto the Barrister's Ball. Here is a couple of pictures from that, I didn't take too many due to the fact that I wanted to dance!

The King and I

Me, Whit, and Matt.
It is hard to believe that it is only a few more months until graduation for Matt! We can't wait!
Happy Super Bowl Sunday everyone!
